I'm wearing a 1860s period dress for the Ball.

Hi I'm Wendy and I've never attended anything Firefly related before...so am looking very forward to the Browncoat Ball. I'm coming in from Southwest Missouri.

I'm sending you a wave from our nations capital, or thereabouts.  My name is my username here on these forums.  It's a pleasure to meet you all.  Some of you I am honored to know already.  Is it October yet?

I'll let you know here or PM you on this forum.  My boyflame hasn't decided if he's coming yet and the room costs the same regardless of how many beds they put in it.   If he chooses not to come, you can room with me.  I have an insane automatic trust of Browncoats.  It's going to get me into trouble some day. Wink

I bought a really shiny black & purple Chinese style dress and a corset at FanExpo this past weekend.  I'm hoping to be able to go to the ball and wear it.  Still not sure if I can get there.

I even got a neat steampunk mini-topper, but I'm not too sure it'll go with the Chinese dress.  Wink

I have a Saffron costume that I can likely wear at other times during the weekend.

tequilabandit, I've seen bajillions of silver and gold sandals in shoe stores this summer, anything from "Roman" style flats to killer stillettos.  They're all probably on sale now for end of season.  Shop around.

EvilAndy, I know in previous Browncoat Balls, many have worn Civil War attire, usually with some Asian-inspired detail or other 'verse-like twists.

I don't have anything like that, so I'll probably go with a generic Inara costume. Smiley

This brings up another question:  Is there a dresscode for the ball?  Can we come in Wash shirts and khakis?

I really really want to go to the ball to see all my Charlotte friends again.  Problem is, I will also have to pay for airfare to get down there, as well as tickets etc etc etc., and I'm still unemployed so funds are getting tighter by the day  Sad

If any females are considering sharing a room, please let me know.  Then I'll see if I can splurge for another weekend con.

Think I have my outfit down except for the shoes (always a tricky part).  Am looking for fancy sandals (flats as I plan on dancing) in a gold or silver...suggestions??

Harris Teeter's usually has discounted tickets for sale in the grocery store customer service counters.  Only $2 off, but still, that gives you $2 extra for a mug of ale or meade.  Wink
