I'll probably be wearing my Simon Tam outfit again - it's based on the suit he wore in the Big Damn Pilot - dark suit jacket and pants, blue vest, and white button-up long sleeved shirt. The jacket lapels aren't quite right, but I think it's pretty dashing anyway.

It sounds dashing indeed.   I still haven't decided what to wear.   Embarrassed

Answers to 2 questions from wbbnospam:

Re: Using your imagination to make a 'Verse costume
One reason I love Browncoats and the 'Verse is that there's a lot of room for creativity. I love looking at the costumes in the background of the scenes; the complexity of the 'Verse is visible in the variety of what is worn. Shawna Trpcic did a wonderful job with what was probably a limited budget. Even at the Shindig, she used backlot clothes for most of the extras, but combined them in unique ways. European-style ballgowns look exotic when combined with Asian shawls and Elizabethan headpieces.
So I can't see that anyone would be critical of your creative efforts. (On the other hand, if someone showed up dressed as a character from a non-Firefly/Serenity universe, I'd have to wonder why they were there. It would really break the mood.)

Re: Charlotte weather
Given that our weather this year has been exceptionally warm, and still is, it might be a bit hard to predict. But here's the 'normal' in late October:
Highs in the uppers 60's/lower 70's; lows at night in the high 40's.
October days tend to be sunny, with little rain.
Because Charlotte is in the Piedmont, the cold air from the mountains can make the nights chilly. It depends on the winds.

See you soon!

ArtGeek, It's a men's-style kimono.

Also, I'm going to be dressing in Firefly mode all three days; shamelessly. Smiley

I plan to wear a generic Wash outfit all weekend, except at the ball: brown/tan cargo pants and a Hawaiian shirt like his in War Stories. I'll be working as a volunteer most of the weekend or I'd be in a much more elaborate costume.

Not me. I'll probably be wearing the Simon suit for most of Saturday, and the rest of the time be in jeans and a firefly-themed t-shirt. Those will be more comfortable to fly in.  Grin

I will likely be in costume all weekend hopefully if I can find an affordable Hawaiian shirt for the lu'au between now an then.

There will be Hawaiian shirts on sale at the Bazaar!!

I'll be cosplaying on Friday and for the Ball. I'll be wearing my Kaylee from "Serenity" (the pilot) costume on Friday all day, then my layer cake dress at the Ball.

Reba,

One of the Shiny Bazaar Vendors will have affordable Hawaiian shirts for sale. She's been collecting them for a year!

Not to take moolah from a bazaar vendor (definitely want to check her out), but if you want to arrive with a Wash shirt already in hand, Walmart had some for $14 near me in the Lehigh Valley, PA.

Yeah I have gotten such great deals on Hawaiian shirts that some of them are $5 and $10. Check them out. I'm not trying profit much just offer a service so folks can have vintage looking shirts for the Luau.

I'll be in some kind of 'verse wear most of the weekend too. I didn't get my southern belle gown so I opted for something a little more sedate. Oh well. Its brown.

Your gown may be sedate, but you'll have a shiny shawl to wear over it as well!
